Instagram continues to try to compete with TikTok and Snapchat with new features. According to the report, the company is working on the possibility of extending the video recording time in stories beyond 60 seconds.
The new feature is currently being tested by a limited number of users in Turkey, when Elhu was notified of this capability when opening the app. For comparison, so far stories on Instagram have been limited to 15 seconds and if the user uploaded a video of this length of time the app split it into several separate stories.
Thus increasing the video time to 60 seconds will allow users to upload longer videos with fewer interruptions and cuts. However, this is a slightly late response from Instagram, since Tiktok has long been able to upload videos of this length and even recently increased the limit to 3 minutes.
This is an extensive move by Instagram in order to focus the social network more on video and less on photos, since it launched the Reels feature which is actually its direct answer to Tiktok. In addition, Instagram plans to introduce a new interface for creating stories with new options and expanding the graphic elements and tags.
There is currently no information on when the new features will reach all users, but it is likely that if these are under review it may happen very soon.
