Google, meanwhile, has decided to get off the folding phone cart. According to a report on the DSCC website, by Ross Young who is considered very reliable. Sources in the supply chain have confirmed that Google has decided not to bring the Pixel Fold to market, at least until the end of the second half of 2022.

It is estimated that Google has decided that this is currently a market that it can not really compete with the product it has in its hands in the meantime, especially in the European market and the American market where Samsung enjoys relatively successful sales of its Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Flip phones.

This does not mean that the company has decided that it will not produce folding phones at all in the future, it does mean that it has decided to take a step back. In the meantime, it is promoting the development of Android 12L, the current version of its operating system for large screens.

In terms of hardware, the Pixel Fold was supposed to be externally similar to Samsung’s Z Fold3 with an LTPO screen that offers a refresh rate of 120 Hz, but with smaller camera age, including the possibility that it will continue to use the 12-megapixel sensor, IMX363’s Sony has been using it since Pixel 3 alongside a 12-megapixel camera for super-wide photography and two 8-megapixel sensors.
