Sonos is updating the software (Sonos S2) today in app stores, with new features including support for DTS Digital Surround. Customers can access the latest software in the Sonos app (Settings> System> System Updates> Check for Updates).
As part of the “Hollywood At Home” trend that began last year following the Corona crisis, the trend continues to dominate the peak – 60% of U.S. respondents to the recent Sonos survey said they would rather watch new movies at home than in theaters. DTS Digital Surround now supports Arc, Beam (Gen 2), Beam (Gen 1), Playbar, Playbase and AMP (in the S2 app). Customers will see a tag on the ‘Now Playing’ screen of the Sonos app when streaming DTS Digital Surround content.
Battery saving on roaming and movement: When this setting is enabled through the Sonos app, the portable speakers will turn off completely automatically after 30 minutes of inactivity. When off, Move will maintain battery life for up to 30 days and Roam will maintain battery life for up to 70 days. When battery saving is turned on, listeners will need to turn on Roam and Move using the physical power button before playing music.
EQ settings on the Play Now screen: iOS customers streaming music can now customize their EQ settings, including Tribal, Bass and Loudness, through the Play Now screen in the Sonos app. To access the EQ settings from the screen, simply tap on the volume bar and then the equalizer button on the right. Android support will be available in the coming months.
